Removable prosthesis

A removable prosthesis is a prosthesis which. Generally replaces multiple teeth. It partly leans on the remaining teeth, and partly on the gum and the bones.
A removable prosthesis usually requires a few days of adaptation. If well adapted, it should not be painful.

Stellite (or skeletal).

It is a rigid metal based prosthesis, which leans both on the remaining teeth and on the mucous membrane. The metal part which adheres on the gums is protected by resin. Teeth are made of resin.

Advantages : stable, patients can easily get accustomed it.
Drawbacks : puts great pressure on the remaining teeth. Potential allergies to the metals used (chromium-co)

Partial resin prosthesis.

It is a prosthesis exclusively made of resin, with soft metal hooks. It is often for temporary use.

Complete prosthesis.

When there are no remaining teeth, they are replaced by a prosthesis made entirely of resin, which must largely lean on the mucous membrane.

Materials : resin prosthesis’ teeth are either made of resin or ceramics.

Removable prosthesis must be regularly controlled and adapted in order to adhere to the bone, which is slowly reduced throughout the years.
